What are we doing to comply?
Rapid and other members of the AFDEC organisation are actively liasing with our suppliers in order to ascertain which products already do, or will comply with the RoHS legislation. As this information is received, we are adding the information to a dedicated database so that customers can verify the compliance, or current interim status of products for themselves. If you wish to view this list and check products, please click here. For a guide on how to use the compliance list, click here.

How will I identify compliant or non-compliant products?
AFDEC members have requested that suppliers identify compliant products by giving them a new product code. Where this has been confirmed, details of the identification marks will be included in the RoHS Status spreadsheet. Where appropriate, Rapid will change the product description to include the letters "RC" (RoHS Compliant), or introduce new product codes. We may also decide to identify compliant products in our catalogue in the future. Rapid have sourced a "Decision Tree" to help producers decide whether or not a product might come within the scope of the RoHS regulations. Click here to view.

Will these product changes mean I need to alter my process?
This may be the case. We have requested that suppliers advise us of any changes to processes that may result from the change to RoHS compliant products. Where this has been confirmed, details of any recommended process changes will be included in the RoHS Status spreadsheet. However, we would always recommend that each customer verifies for themselves that the new products will work with their processes, as Rapid Electronics Ltd cannot accept liability for failures.
There are many seminars and training initiatives taking place around the country and you may wish to attend one of these if you need support during this transition process. In addition, there are a number of consultants who can help you to make this transition, they will be able to advise you about your specific operation. Look at the 'Links' section, as some of these may provide further details.

Do you need to do more to confirm RoHS compliance?
Rapid have sourced this flow chart which is designed to clarify the compliance process and could help producers determine when analysis of components might be advisable. Click here to view.
